Leg 5: race 8: day 9: Mother's Day
Woken at 5.30 pancakes for breakfast then on deck at 6am. There was a Mother's Day banner up in the galley, that sophie had made.
Sea was flat calm only 6 knots wind had the spinnaker was up (code 1)
Really warm so just had T shirt and shorts on,as the morning went on the wind dropped even more so we dropped the spinnaker and put the wind seeker up.
I had made 3 cakes for the mothers so we gave them out and Kevin and Richard took photos. Came off shift 10am
Chicken wrap for lunch then I had a shower (well Water thrown over) and hair wash in the heads.
In bunk at 11 for rest. Can't believe how hot it is still we were expecting really cold weather and possibly snow!
Odd laying in my bunk thinking its Mother's Day : I expect I will look back next year on Mother's Day and remember this one! Wonder what my mum is doing ? I expect all my brothers and sisters have been round to see her. I will treat her to something when I get back and Carl's mum
Miss not contacting home glad I got a text in the other day
I was in the top coffin bunk and Carl was opposite me funny making faces at each other and took some photos.
Lay in my bunk listening to music Louis Armstrong came on reminded me of my dad he loved listening to jazz music wonder what he would think of me doing this. Sadly he died when I was 21 he was only 53. Life is so short this is why you must make the most of it enjoy
It why you can and I feel that me and Carl really live life to the full
Was woken at 13.00 from the noise up on deck as they were putting in a reef and the boat was heeled over.
Crazy from no wind to that! 35knots and it was pouring with rain.
Smelt fresh coffee so got up had a cup with some cake then back to bunk for a rest. Couldn't sleep up again at 5.30 had dinner fish and roast potatoes then up on deck at 6pm it was really cold temperature had dropped felt chilly, Had Yankee 1 and staysail up and we're moving along, although when I came off shift at 10pm the wind had dropped, came onto standby made some scones then Richard filmed me and asked about my Mother's Day. It was ok but not being the same as at home with the children. Mind you it will be one I wont forget !
