Leg 8 : race 12 : day 16
Woke at 5.30 they had gone round rockall and we're heading south to our next way point before Derry. We are heeled over and bouncing about heading into the wind. Helped to wool the kite. Most of the crew were annoyed with the standby watch as No breakfast out no hot water ; the kite had no been run ready for wooling bilges not done sea c*** not changed. And the certain person to mention no names was just sat in nav station. One thing about this race is you have to be a team player and those who aren't really stick out and have an impact. It can some times cause a domino effect and others think well he didn't do it so I won't!!! Needs to be nipped in the bud straight away. Also important that the watches get on deck on time there are always a few that are consistently late!
My watch were on deck getting wet with waves and rain. I was meant to be helping sophie with the last fixing of code 1 but we were so heeled over it was impossible! Had a lay down on my bunk. We had the Yankee 2 up and had a reef in. When my watch went to standby I did the washing up. It was so hard as the boat was so heeled over and hard to stay standing. Sat with Carl watched a film for a while. I hate it when the sea is rough glad Carl is with me to reassure me. So looking forward to getting in now.
Slept really well in 4 hours off. Up on deck at 6pm cold and damp the shift dragged was glad when it finished at 10pm and straight into my sleeping bag to get warm and sleep
