Day 2
Alarms sounded at 5.30am. First stop of the morning was Kalbarri National Park where we did the bushwalk around Murchison River Z bend. We walked down tot eh bottom of the gorge. At the bottom some of the guys did a 30m absail, which was hilarious to watch, there are some many ways one can absail down a rock! After everyone had finished throwing themselves off the cliff we walked down to the waters edge, to the most beautiful stop. The sun shining and the crisp colours made for some beautiful shots.
Next stop was Nature's Window (the photo at the top). You got a great perspective of the river in the gorge being so high up. We had hamburgers on the BBQ for lunch. The boys initiated their first bit of bonding with an eating competition!
We then hit the road again - travelling north through station country. We crossed Nerren Nerren and Meadow sheep staton.
Stopped at Hamelin Bay to see the stromatolites - yes people living rocks! In fact they are the oldest living things on the planet!
Another fabulous sunset that we drove into on our way to Denham. Denham is the most westerly town in Australia and our overnight stop. It was a BBQ and a hot tub in the middle of nowhere for the evening, a bit luxurious for backpackers!
And that was Day 2.
