Hi everyone,

Just to update you on our stay in Miles. I have been working down at the Winsor Hotel which is the second pub that Paul and Geoff own in the village. They have actually sold it so from next week i will up at the Aussie Hotel with Rose and the other 2 backpackers. Its definatley not as swiss as the Aussie, it's an old style pub with its loyal customers. Until last week, it had a very busy restaurant which kept me busy in the evenings but through the day its pretty quiet apart from people buying from the bottle shop. Geoff is the one who runs it. He has been away for the last 5 days, to visit his daughter who is emmigrating to south america, so I have been landlady! What a responsibility, it has been fun but very tiring and stressful. Im looking forward to some time off once he is back, as Ive both have been working 11 hours a day 7 days for the last 2 and a half weeks, tough life i know but they pay packet has been worth it!

Rose has been working loads of hours too at the Australia, so we have barely seen each other over the last few weeks. Unfortunately Rose has had to work both Friday and Saturday nights and has had to suffer me and 4 Irish lads who have been staying there getting drunk at the bar! Unfortunately they left this week so I will have to find some new drinking partners.

Other than drinking and working there isn't any other news!

The road running through Miles is one of the main routes to/from Brisbane into the outback. Everyday hundreds of huge road trains rattle through the town. The pub faces the road and everyday i see a fair few road trains loading with cattle heading to Brisbane and the slaughter house, a bit of a somber thought. Other than road trains a lot of caravans stop in Miles as they are passing through, everyone has a different story which they are willing to share. It is a very friendly town.
