Sunday 12th September
I called my mum yesterday as she was on her birthday night out it was good to hear her voice and also speak to my sister. I miss them. Danny text us and we text back but not sure if he received it. I can now disclose the present as she has opened it! It was a dragon ornament I bought in Cyprus where the insense stick stands vertical in a base and the vertical dragon goes on top. Then the smoke from the insense pours out of the dragons mouth! It looks great - well I think so lets hope she does to!

Monday 13th September
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MUM! I finished work just in time to call her. It was 10.30pm back home in the UK. I did the usual made breakfast, went to work, went on the internet, looked round a few shops, made dinner in the park, read our books and went to bed! Not much to report!

Tuesday 14th September
oooooh its getting chilly! Hope we can survive 2 weeks in the van with the weather. We have it easy in Banff with all the necessities around us such as 1) Shower at the hotel, 2) Plug sockets to charge items in the Mall, 3) Clean public toilets with hot water and cold drinking water tap in the park, 4) Sheltered picnic areas for when it rains, lots of places to park up for the night - this will all change when we are on the road in a weeks time...

I wrote a couple of poems - one on Canada and one on Ibiza here they are...

What we think of Canada.....

Our Road Trip No.2
So what have we so far?
A maple leaf or two?

Everything is written-
In English and in french
Everywhere you look-
You'll see a picnic bench!

Upon receipt of any service
You have to bloody tip
Its the 2nd largest Country
And they call a crisp a chip!

The mosquitos here
Have a vicous bite
If the lights are on red
The car can turn right!

The population is 30K
They write the month before the day?!

They love their life, and are patriotic
Every car beeps when you lock it!

Rivers, lakes and trees,
The beauty of lake louise

The Grizzley and the Brown Bear
The squirrels that just stop and stare
Spotting Wildlife never fails -
Elk, Moose, otters, whales....

Eagels are seen everywhere
But cougers and linx very rare

Elk Bison and all things meat
This is what the Canadians eat

Chips & gravy AND cheese curd
This to us may seem obsurd
But here it is the locals cuisine
The Canadians call it "Poutine"

So Canada is a beautiful place
But their life is much the same
We'd much prefer a culture shock
If we went on our travels again....
