Wednesday 2nd March
Hungover.. again! We tried to lie in but the new people that had come in our room were not very considerate, leaving the door open and making so much noise!
So we got up and dragged ourselves to Oliver´s travels for breakfast, it took ages for our food to come and we were all starving! Craig was feeling better today so joined us! I had a BLT and it was amazing! A little home comfort.
After breakfast/lunch I wanted to visit San Pedro Prison so we jumped in a cab!
If you have never heard of San Pedro prison read a book called Marching Powder. It´s amazing! Or look at this link..

When the book marching powder was written prison tours were available, I would love to do this tour but Joe isn´t too keen on me going in the prison! We sat in the plaza opposite the prison watching the families of inmates come and go, children were in and out too. After a couple of hours a local guy approached us and told us he had just been released! (He was v dodgy looking!) He could not speak english so conversation was difficult but we worked out he had been in for 5 years and he was telling us some info about the prison and even asked if we wanted to go in but we thought it was too dodgy with him. He waited for his paperwork and left (more of him to come!!!!)
We headed back to the hostel and I really wasn´t feeling well, I felt so sick (We think there is a stomach bug going round the hostel that Craig has as you could hear people being sick quite often!) I went to bed for a while and eventually at 11pm got up and ready for our fairwell night with Vicky and Abbey :-( We went to an irish bar for a few drinks, then to Mongo´s.. we didn´t get back to the hostel about 8am Thursday!
Thursday 3rd March
We were in bed pretty much all day! We got up about 5pm to go upstairs to the hostel bar to get food then back to bed! We ordered a chinese takeaway at about 10.30pm then went back to bed! Gutted to be saying goodbye to Vicky and Abbey tomorrow as they are off back to Santiago before they fly to NZ on Sunday :-(
Friday 4th March
Today we said our goodbyes to Vicky and Abbey and decided to check out of our hostel and across the road to a much quieter hostel! The wild rover was lots of fun if your partying too but when your not it is very loud!
We crossed the road to the new hostel, got showers etc. This is where I saw on facebook that when Abbey and Vicky had arrived at La Paz airport they had someone try to steal their rucksacks from the boot of the taxi.. and would you believe it was our San Pedro friend that we had met outside the Prison on Wednesday! Luckily he didn´t manage to steal anything and they´re both now safe in Santiago!
Me, Joe and Craig headed to burger king then I told the boys to go and do the bus tour that I did on Tuesday while I came to update the blog! An hour later Joe strolled into the internet cafe i´m in and they´d missed the tour bus because they were waiting at the wrong roundabout! (I had told and shown them where to wait!)
I have now been in this internet cafe about 5.5 hours and just caught up with the blog! Photos may take a while to come as uploading is a nightmare! I will not be leaving the blog so long in future!
Hope everyone at home is good and the weather is starting to get better! We´re having lots of fun but missing you all lots!
Lots of love Hayley and Joe xxx
