So the blog entries are not going to well so far, possibly because i've spent pretty much every day on a big green bus and every night in a library, yeah whatever. New Zealand (or NZ as i'm now allowed to call it) has been super busy and super fun and thankfully 1st impressions have drastically changed. We were welcomed in the traditional Maori style of sticking your tongue out, slapping your man boobs, grunting and dancing round with a big pointy stick and then treated (i say treated, i mean paid for) a hangai feast = a NZ take on a carvery but cooked underground.
Been travelling around on the 'Kiwi experience', its a jump on/off bus but because of time i've been on it most days, the drivers well happy with that!! From the initial bus of 40ish there's about 5 of us still on it which is cool as it makes things a bit easier, and i dont have to spiel off the smae blurb everyday, although i did have fun meeting new ppl the other day, the current bus all believe that my name's Patricia, i'm a bingo caller, i work on a farm, i'm travelling with my twin, got an arranged marriage waiting in my next destination. Nothing like a bit of schizophrenia to liven up a journey.
I've met some wierdos including a brummy girl who NEVER STOPPED TALKING (so much so that i feel the need to emphasise that with capitals) but everytime i looked at her my eyes were drawn to the 8inch forest under her arms. Have bonded with the locals in some wilderness area by playing chicken drinking games, however there's no drunken stumble to the kebab house here, its more a case of watching the guys dance the Haka till 4am. Special ehy?
Have seen idyllic beaches, craggy mountains, stunning lakes, dormant volcanoes, meandering rivers and mount Doom for all you Lord of The Rings fans (tho i'm not sure that's any of you). Oh and to make everyone feel better - it rained yesterday, bloomin chucked it down and i had to do 3 walks in what i now realise is a non-waterproof jacket. Hope i dont get pneumonia and do a Beadle. Haha it was sunny within an hour though.
Have thrown myself 15,000 ft out of a plane and got over 1minute of freefall before the parachute was opened (freakin awesome), have hurled myself down a hill in an inflatable ball (freakin funny), have raced around a luge track (freakin dangerous) and ragged it down a river in a jet boat (freakin anti-climax). Went and watched rabbits being sheared, possible the most bizzarre thing i have ever seen in my life, it looked so wrong.
Currently sat overlooking a mountain in Franz Josef, going on a full day hike of the glacier tomorrow, will do some lunges before bed to warm the calves up. Stayed in cabins in the middle of nowhere last night and had a 'poo party' (called that because the place sounds like poo, not because people throw faeces around), the theme was tight and bright - i'll put some pics up when i get a chance - and we did ourselves proud (the headace, room spins and bruises tell me so).
So until next time its adios.......
