Set off along the sandy pathways through the village's wooden cabanas, with a bit of bird spotting on the way, then to the top of the sand dunes for a great view of Playa Grande. Got stuck on one part sand that was unbearably hot, causing a moment of panic before scarpering back to where we had come from.
Found a sheltered spot out of the wind to watch the waves crash against the rocks and the odd flying fish. Aside from a large number of seabirds and the odd dog, other 'wildlife' spotting for the day included a dead seal, a dead whale, and loads of eggs (possibly turtle?). The whale carcass had been there a few days and what was left was a huge pile of brown blubber and massive bones and the most horrendous smell that chased you around with the wind changes.
Wandered along the beach back to the village, unable to avoid stopping off for some more fish empanadas.
Explored some more rocks and the point near the village before heading home over the dunes.
Spent much of the evening trying to figure out the best way to get anywhere up the Brazilian coast, or whether it was in fact better to head back in to Argentina toward Iguassu. With little information about either option, concluded that transport anywhere from Eastern Uruguay is somewhat tricky, that both options were going to be equally tiresome, but the beaches of Brazil were calling.
