Picked up some mountain bikes and set off down the ruta las cascadas (touristy waterfall route - full of ecuadorean tourists on a Saturday!). After having to stop 3 or 4 times in the first few kms to fix my bike chain, thought our little cycle may turn in to a bit of a disaster. Fortunately though we bumped in to the bloke who rented us the bikes - he pointed out that one of the cog spokes was missing. Instructed not to use the bottom gear, we continued on our way. Beautiful views of mountains, streams and waterfalls. Came across a 1km long zip line and decided to have a go, face down giving the feeling you are flying. Amy only managed to pick up the instructions of how to go faster and not the ones to brake - the result was two desperate, flag waving stewards and something of a crash landing. Continued on our bikes and eventually got to the final and most impressive waterfall, Pailon del Diablo. Got very wet walking behind the crashing falls. Truck back to our hostel for a relaxing evening.
