Collected from our hostel and driven south down the coast to Puerto Rawson / Punta Delfin. Lifejackets on we jumped on a glorified dinghy and made our way through some fishing trawlers chasing some playful seals for their photographs (whilst being laughed at by the fisherman). Out at sea enjoyed watching many 'mini-orca' (black and white) dolphins play in the waves created by our boat. Also rob brought the boat's attention to a southern right whale. Next stop Punta Tombo, the sight of a million penguins, each of which proved easier to capture on camera than the pesky dolphins. Quite a sight seeing so many penguins nesting in one place, but unexpected to see penguins near the beach, without a spot of snow or ice in sight. Back to Puerto Madryn via Gaiman, a small town full of Welsh tea rooms, this area having been settled by the Welsh in the late 19th century. Found a nice buffet restaurant with prawns and other seafood galore, and some lovely steak. Amy ate too much and felt very sorry for herself for the rest of the evening.
