Hellloooooo, ok so we have now arrived in 1770 after saying goodbye to Harvey Bay and Fraser Island.
We stayed in Rainbow beach for two nights but other then beach, catching up with the blog and pics and meeting the girls ready for Fraser there isn't much to update.
We all arrived in Harvey Bay and it was hot! We checked into our hostel and met up again with Kyla and Steve as well as the girls in Rainbow - we checked in, got ourselves sorted and put our names down for the $10 all you can eat dominoes which is where we met Jo - we put our names down to all be put in a 4x4 together for our trip to Fraser. We got up early the following day to watch the boring safety video, check and pick up all our campng gear and our food shopping for the few days ahead - good group so far, as well as the above we had two frenchies (we called them jon and flow) and some German girl who turned out to be a waste of a perfectly good seat! We arrived on Fraser and made our way to Lake Wabby - was good but had a long walk and dune hike to get to it. Dave drove after lake wabby and found our camp for the night, we stocked up on BBQ grub but was so knackered me and Becky only had a tiny bit of the massive vodka bottle we bought. The following day we chilled out on 75 mile beach before heading to Eli creek for lunch, Eli was sooooo cold it was a much needed refreshment, after that we headed to Maheno shipwreck wreck which was nice but a bit to crowded - then onto Indian head, another up hill walk in the heat but spotted some tiger sharks and rays (did i mention you cant swim n the see around Fraser as its breeding ground for tiger sharks!!!) Last for the day was the Champagne pools which were very pretty but some of the girls spotted jelly fish so didn't frolic in that water too long - believe it or not i was actually aloud to drive the group to that nights camp - you will all be pleased to know that we made it there safe and sound! That nights dinner we had decided to cook pasta which turned out to be interesting.....had a few issues of personality between the group but all fun and games! chuckle I very much enjoyed the pasta so ta very much Kyla! We had an early start the next day as we all got up at 3.50 for the sunrise which was worth it apart from the humongous flies that stab you seemed to swarm n the early hours! We then made our way to Lake Mckenzie which was well worth the whole weekend - it was sooooo gorgeous! We stayed their all day long and didnt want to leave - its actually a fresh water lake and is by far the pretties place i've ever seen, pictures just done do it justice - whitsunday's has alot to live up too. We had to leave to catch our ferry and after some intense 4x4 from the boys we got back to the ferry and the mainland safely.
We had one more night in Fraser before heading for 1770, we're trying to sort out the end of our Oz trip as I might be gong to Aires Rock and Melbourne and we also both need to book more things up the east coast so will keep you posted! We have three nights here then head for one night at croombit cattle station (not looking forward to that but its a compulsory stop) then off to Airlie beach ready for Whitsunday's!!!
