Ok so after leaving the beautiful Franz Joseph (again with another very early start) we made our way to Matheson lake aka mirror lake as its known for its mirror reflection of the scenery around it, we leave early to ensure the water hasn't been disturbed thus getting a good pic - was worth the early start as it we all got some good pics. After there we carried on with our journey towards Wanaka stopping at a few waterfalls along the way - we finally arrived at the hostel and after checking in and getting sorted the boys cooked us bangers and mash (well i just had mash but lots of thick gravy too mmmm)
The next day Rich decided to go fishing so Dave went along too (you have to have a licence which didn't really cover for Dave's fishing but he went along with Rich all the same) Me and Liz spent most of the morning on the internet as we had been unable to upload pics for a while and was having withdrawal symptoms! When the boys got back we decided to book ourselves into the el Paradiso cinema, which is something out of the 60's - it has sofa's and big chairs and even a yellow convertible mini which has been converted to allow comfortable cinema viewing - it also had an intermission where you could get homemade ice cream and cookies (which were still warm and melting!) so we treated ourselves and watched Invictus - very good choice as it was about Nelson Mandela and showed Robin Island prison (which i went to in Africa) plus being based on rugby and the All Blacks so being currently in New Zealand was also relevant. Before we left me and Liz took a few pics in the toilet - take a look of the photo's on facebook and you'll see why - they are apparently one of the most photographed toilets (well apart from puzzle world!) All four of us enjoyed the film and the whole old cinema experience (me and Dave even went back for one of their cookies the next day too!)
The next day was our last day in Wanaka so we hired bikes and went mountain biking, i was worried after 1770 (when i was the only one out of 40 that fell off!) if i could ride a bike but luckily i could (another thing i can do and you cant mother!!), however not without alot of pain so good thing we only did half a day - we went for a few hours, took some pics but it was quite windy so after meeting up with Rich and Liz again we made our way back to the store to hand back the bikes - but not before getting a cookie! That night we packed and got ready for the following day but the Base hostel we was staying in is the newest and therefore had a really good TV room - once again i let Dave pick the film but wasn't as bad as the last choice, he chose Old School which wasn't too bad a I like Vince Vaughn.
