I dont really know where to start with Chiang Mai. I have done so much within the space of a few days. I arrived on Thursday and met 2 girls who I met in Bangkok. We chilled out that night then on Friday went to Tiger Kingdom. It was amazing, quite scary to be that close to tigers but amazing too. We then went to a snake place, I had a snake around my neck and had to sort of kiss it which was weird. We decided a Thai massage was necessary today tooo, it was about 2 pounds for an hour..it was so so nice. they use every bit of their body, hands, feet knees the lot. We went to the night bazar in the evening which was really cool and ended up going to a lady boy caberet. It was interesting to say the least but actually quie good. The dancing was pretty intense. Thailand is certainly an eye opener.
That night we went for food and chilled out as the next day we were off to the Jungle. We paid around 20 pounds for 3 days, 2 nights in the jungle, food and accomodation included. The first day has to of been the hardest, first we rode on elephants for an hour which was so amazing, I think I had the naughty elephant of the group. He wanted to be in front all the time but there really wasnt enough room for 2 elephants on some of the paths. We stayed at a hill tribe the first night so as you can imagine, we had to get pretty high to get to it. It was so so hot and really tough to climb. After the elephants, thats when the hell started, it was hot, sweaty, and painful, but the scenerey was amazing. We reached the hill tribe and our tour guides made us dinner, which was curry, so as you can imagine I wasnt too keen so I literally ate rice on its own..wasnt that great but after doing the most exercise I have probably ever done I needed the energy. I forgot to mention the first day we trekked for 3 HOURS!! ouch! The view from our little place we stayed was AMAZING, the stars at night were like nothing I have really seen before. We were told that at 6am the sunset was beautiful, I tried to get up for it but I couldnt. Sam got some amazing pictures though so I may have to steal them.
The next day was the waterfall trek, we saw amazing waterfalls but there was also loads of walking, it was so hard. My trousers totally ripped the and it just got worse and worse as we walked. The final waterfall was were we had to shower as there was no shower in the camp. It was a pretty cool experience but at the time I was so moody from all the walking, being damp, hot, sweaty all in one. I just wanted to finish. We stayed at a camp that night and were the only people there, bit scary. We all had dinner then sat around a bonfire and drank Chang and some horrid Thai whisky stuff. It was really fun. The next day only consisted of 45 mins walking which was amazing, it was still horrid as I was so stiff but I was so happy it was nearly over. We got to the white water rafting camp and all were so scared but it was really fun, and I prefered to do that than walk any more. After that we had a bamboo rafting thing to the last point were we had lunch, showered and were taken back to the hostel. finally we felt clean and nice.
Today we have sorted out the Vietnam visa and the transport to Laos, it means staying in Chiang Mai a few more days but it"s so lovely here I dont mind. I have just had an amazing thai massage with oils which was the best! Feel so much better now. Tomorrow I am doing a Thai Cooking class which should be fun. I hope you are all enjoying rainy England!! Lots of loveeee and miss you all xxxxxx
