I stayed in Noosa a few nights before I got to Rainbow Beach to start the Fraser island trip. Noosa was ok the first day as I just spent the day on the beach but the next few days rained so there wasn't much to do! I had 2 nights in Rainbow beach before the trip and met a group of people who I persuaded to come on Fraser too! We were all in the same car and had a briefing for the trip the night before we left. Telling us all about dingos, not to go near them, what to do if you see them etc etc. We had to order our alcohol the night before too and ended up with about 9 boxes of goon! :-s
On Fraser it's a 2 night, 3 day trip where you drive 4 wheel drive jeeps around the massive sand island and see some amazing lakes, beaches etc. You cook your own food and sleep in tents. We were a bit annoyed that we were in the lead car which essentially meant we couldn't drive. We were all so annoyed as we couldn't understand why they didn't put the people that had no drivers license or didn't want to drive in that car. Our guide, Jimmy, was really good though and so funny!
The first night became very drunken, but really good! Everyone joined in drinking games and I ended up sleeping in a jeep.. Not entirely sure why!
The next day we drove to more lakes, they were all fresh water lakes and as there were no showers on this trip it was nice to feel clean-ish! I was able to drive someone else's car this day, yey! I probably had one of the best drives! Jimmy ended up leading the convoy totally 'off road' which was really hard to drive but fun. I drove for a good hour at least.
Fraser island was so fun, defiantly a highlight of Australia! I was so glad the friends I made were on the trip and in my car! We were so lucky with the weather as well! It only rained for a little bit and that was when we were in the cars so everytime we got out it was sunny! :-)
I went to 1770/ Agnes water after Fraser, only for one night. Adam, who I met at Fraser was there so I hung out with him and another girl. It was just a stopover on the bus ride to Airlie beach for the Whitsundays boat trip else it would have been a really long bus trip!
I recommend Dingo's for the Fraser Island trip... It's so fun!
