Day 14 & 15 - A holiday within a holiday! Time for a mini break from Galle for a weekend in Mirissa, a town further along the south coast, it's less developed than unawatuna but had some lovely bars and fresh fish restaurants all along the bay. Day 13 - Packed in Like a tin of Sardines.. Oh what a day.. Early start up at 5am to catch the 6am train into Colombo with all the commuters! Our first sri lanka train experience.. Day 12 - True appreciation of the fragility of life... We had our last day of Obs and Gynae today and it was a busy one, we saw 4 babies be born all before 11am - and all little boys too! The First baby was a case that I don't think any of us will ever forget, it was a breech delivery, in the UK mothers would be advised to have a cesarean however in Sri Lanka, if the pelvis is of adequate size a natural birth is preferred with doctor supervision and assistance....

Day 11 - All hail the Professor... Not a particularly exciting day to report back on today, went to hospital this morning and had to hang around in the Gynae clinic to meet the professor who will be signing our forms! This is the head consultant of obs and Gynae, and he is worshiped and treated like a god by the medical students and staff!
