Today was an official rest day and a much needed one. We all commented on leg soreness and we took to walking in Windhoek in the hope of recovery. We had plenty to do in the guise of haircuts, shaves, sightseeing, eating and souvenir shopping. Windhoek is much larger than I originally thought. Construction, Agriculture, Mining,
& Tourism appear to be the prevalent industries. Half of the Namibian population live below the international poverty line but you wouldn't know it if you only visited Windhoek. It appears to be thriving. Knowing I didn't have to get back on a bike tomorrow I enjoyed having a beer at Andy's Pub, the Hilton Hotel, the Kalahari Sands Hotel & Joes Beer Hall to name a few. I also needed to find a bike box so I could dismantle my bike and pack it for transport by plane. This proved to be much easier than I thought and Cycle Tech bike shop were able to accommodate. Thanks Justin! With some further help from the guys my bike is packed away and ready to go. I have an additional day in Windhoek tomorrow and Shane, Wade, Justin & Gavan continue their ride to Cape Town. It will be hard to say good bye after sharing the experience of riding in Africa. It will be made much easier though with the knowledge that in 3 weeks or so they will have completed their epic ride from Cairo to Cape town successfully and safely. These guys are endurance personified. They are strong individually and they are a force collectively. It has been a privilege to ride alongside them for the length of time that I did. I will continue to update this site until I arrive back in Adelaide. The guys are keen to know how I go getting the bike etc back through customs and into my front door at home. The photo captured is at a renowned Windhoek restaurant and bar called Joe's Beer Hall. We are drinking a South African cream Liqueur called 'Amarula' made from the fruit of the African Marula tree. That was the last drink I will share with the guys in Africa. Thanks Gents for a wild ride!!

Joys I almost did! but my ovirgenht flight had a crying, screaming baby and I got about 10 minutes of restless sleep not to mention the guy next to me who was fidgety. I've spent the day catching a little sleep here and there in a secondary waiting area that isn't overly busy. oh well, almost done now, but not before I find a beer and a little something to eat at TGIF. yeah.
