After a first meeting with the group we set out on a short orientation trip, amongst others to the gardens of the imperial palace. Since there was not much time this visit turned out a bit shorter than expected, but the gardens were very cool.
After this we went to Harajuku street; the place to be for young and hip teens, where you will find people dressed up as their favorite manga-character or as elegant gothic lolita's, Visual Kei or just particular. (see wikipedia for more info on this). Close to this street, which is filled with shops selling alternative clothing is a park with a very nice Shinto Shrine.
Another particularity of the park is that there are lots of bands playing their music on the street surrounding the park. Also a group of rockabillies were enjoying themselves; I will try to post a small video-clip of this later on.
After having explored Harajuku I went on to Shibuya, another very famous (shopping)area which is mostly known for the large and always busy street crossing.
The next stop, Akihabara aka electric city was very impressive, as this area is filled to the brim with big electronics shops, game arcades and manga stores.
After having a very nice Ramen dinner in Rappongi, an area famous for the nightlife I quickly went back to the hotel as we would leave for the Tokio fishmarket at 5:00 the next morning...
