We started today by sleeping in! As the official tour finished yesterday, we had today to go to our hostel and relax.
Christopher luckily had another credit card that allowed him to take money from the ATM, so for the moment the financial issues were solved.
Our hostel was conveniently situated within a 5 to 10 minute walking distance of People's Square, so after putting out luggage in our room we set out for a walk across the Bund as described in the Lonely Planet guide.
It was a nice walk and the buildings are all pretty impressive; unfortunately it was so hot that we really had a hard time.
After some shopping and a brief visit to the internet-cafe we went to the Jinmao-tower, currently the highest building in Shanghai. From this tower it can be clearly seen that it's neighbour will soon take over the title of largest building in Shanghai. Despite the ever present smog we had a nice view on the Bund and TV-tower; the rest of the city could not be seen.
After a nice dinner we were both pretty tired and decided to call it a day and head back to our hostel. Feeling like a bunch of old men we promised ourselves that tomorrow would definitely be the day we were going to explore the night-life in Shanghai!
