A local day! I go to the post office and organize to send mum's package of cosmetics home - it's not bad value and I might send some more stuff back, especially Linda's transformer for her sewing machine as that thing is heavy, and space is getting quite limited. The town of scarsdale is looking festive - the council workers have put up flags all along the streets and the garden beds around the memorial are getting replanted. It's memorial weekend this weekend.
I have passed a newly opened Asian spa daily, but today I'm going to have a pedicure and see if they can tidy up my abused travellers feet. Wow! Not only did I get the usual full pedicure but I then get taken over to a chair that converts to a bed for a full leg reflexology massage by the amazing Jeff. I can barely walk out of there, my muscles have turned to jelly.
I have one more local restaurant that I have been meaning to try since I moved here, and that's the middle eastern winebar Taim Cellar. I order a flight of Israeli red wines, as I have no experience with them at all. They are big and bold and work just as well without food as well as with. I try some small pastries to start - one filled with potato, the other cheese, served with hummus.
I also try a spiced chicken flatbread with Israeli chopped salad - lots of spice and a deceptive bit of fire. Nice to have something different!
The afternoon goes by quickly and then it's time to meet up with Barbara for an early dinner at the really good Italian restaurant in town. It's nice to have a local friend, and I seem to have acquired a new one. There's a simple Chinese guy who hangs around Starbucks who really likes my red dress and thinks he'd like an Australian girlfriend. He's harmless and everyone is good to him around town, he seems to have short term memory issues so I'm sure he will have forgotten about it by tomorrow. So much for the eligible men scene at scarsdale.
