I woke up to San Francisco weather, it had poured with rain all night and the city was completely shrouded in mist! I did the Brooklyn bridge walk, had the bridge almost to myself and the city looked ghostly. Beautiful.
I walked around the financial district and retook my photos of wall st etc. There is a Jewish museum that has a very informative memorial to the holocaust, brought to life by videoed testimonies of survivors recollections who later relocated to America. Hard to believe the world stood by and did nothing - only Denmark protected their people from the Nazis.
I then moved on to Chelsea, a neighbourhood I instantly loved, this is where all the good food is and those beautiful gentrifed brownbrick townhouses and gardened streets .... Good shops too but out of my budget. Had lunch at the start of the highline at an Italian restaurant, it is a very funky French influenced area, the women are walking the cobblestone streets in their high heels and Chanel handbags. I have not seen much of the fabled sex and the city fashion apart from this neighbourhood, there is alot of super casual fashion happening, I don't feel underdressed anywhere!
The high line is amazing, an elevated railway line has been reclaimed and restored as a public park, gardens planted between the tracks, sun lounges and cafe tables for the public use. A street choir was singing in one section. It is beautifully done, and the line is being extended, such is the projects success. In the middle of the walk is the Chelsea market - not as good as the SFO one but still was able to get a proper coffee and an Australian guy has set up a stall selling meat pies called the tuck shop! They looked good too!
I filled the afternoon by mooching around the meatpackers district (very Samantha, slick men and women, great restaurants and bars and all the cutting edge boutiques operate in this district). I listened to a great rock band from my seat on the high line, only to discover it was the annual bear street dance party going on below (hairy shirtless gay men only need apply). I am having Mexican tacos in a great little restaurant before I return and collapse on my comfortable bed - wine and cheese waiting in the room for me!

Jane It sounds as though your bad-luck day is over.. So did you join in with the shirtless men or just watch from a distance?? Wine & cheese - what a lovely way to end the day. Bon Apetit!
