Last full day in SFO - Jane and I went out for brunch to mamas, famous for hour long queues and the best American breakfasts in SFO. I have to say it was a damn fine omlette even with the wait and the twee American diner decor, but nothing cutting edge. The highlight was meeting an alaskan couple called Amy and Randy who were on holidays as well.
We explored the trendy specialty shops around Hayes valley while waiting for our food tour to start. We saw and ate lots of good things- molecular gastronomy icecream made in front of us, tea sampling, belgium fries and different dipping sauces, chacuterie (gotta love pig parts), chocolate (really good chocolate), cheese wine and macarons! The food tour really was a great way to meet like minded people and learn more about a place and it's food.
After packing and washing clothes and sharing wine with Jane, there was nothing left of my last night in SFO, moving on to the conneticut family tomorrow, will post again when I get an Internet connection. It was great having a buddy to share all the gourmet adventures and discovery of a new city! Jane will be missed but am ready for the next part of the trip.....
