This is late, but that's ok. A couple of weeks ago I went to Toledo with three girls from our program and about 20 other European students. Some of them got out of taxi from Carnavales (a weekend long Mardi Gras like celebration) and on the bus to go to Toledo, so we mainly just kept to ourselves.
When we got to the city our "guide" told us to have fun and be back in that spot in about five hours. Our little group of Americans quickly located the free museum on the tourist map and set off.
We never made it to that museum. We were lost for the majority of the five hours, and when we weren't lost we were sitting down. It was the perfect day. We did see some stuff like the Cathedral. We just walked around and did whatever sounded good at the time.
At one point we sat down at this restaurant that had all the world's best food: pizza, paella, postres, ice cream and everything else we could dream of. Of course, we got up, crossed the street and went to McDonald's. That's not a lie.
It was a perfect day. The sun was strong and we spent the day walking around one of the most gorgeous cities in Spain (according to Spaniards).
