Today Lorna achieved something she thougt she would never do, going down a very small hole into a very small, wet cave with bugs, spiders and eels. The experience was amazing squeezing through boulders, swimming through freezing cold water clinging on for dear life to the side rocks as it was very deep. Lorna lead the way through the caves as our fearless leader through jagged rocks, small passage ways balancing on the smallest surfaces possible, Who knew Lorna had balancing skills to start with! but with a little help we got her through safely. The toobin' was the most enjoyable part we gracefully leapt in to our inflatable tyres apart from me, i was the first to demonstrate the leaping off the wall onto the ring and gave it too much power and ended up going backwards off the innertube into 5ft deep muddy water which was freezing LOL.
Funny as that was we got there in the end and the result was floating in the dark surrounded by thousands of glowworms on the ceiling which made the cave look like a night sky full of stars it was incredible. Lorna hopes she never has to be tortured by a wet suit again.
We left waitomo caves for Uncle boys maori experience, (what an action packed day!) The girls learn a ball swing dance and us lads learned the haka!
I was deemed as the chief of the Aurorastray tribe (our bus basically) and took part in the welcome ceremony which the maori take very seriously. We performed to each other and i can tell you there is nothing scarier then men in grass skirts.
Everybody slept in the meeting house, 32 people in 1 room which was strange but did remind Lorna of sunday school sleep overs but without been told off for whispering.
