Meikles Adventure
Hi – took a bit of a drive today – up the Dampier Peninsula to Cape Leveque – only to find it was not just an out of the way beach but rather the only way you could get there was through a resort. I thought there must be another entry down the road, but unfortunately just another 'No Entry' road. So after seing this absolutely gorgeous red beach from above – we drove away from another what must have been amazing place, this time not seing it at all.
Gosh there sure seem to be overwhelming amounts of us come to see it ALL, the natural wonder of it a little bit destroyed. What a magic place to be able to see when not vying with hundreds of us to seemingly see it - it becomes a resort and someone spins money off of a beautiful beach.
Anyway from there we went on to a place called One Arm Point where you go into the local community office to get a ticket to the hatchery – see pics – and a lookout over the tip of King Sound (experiences 11m tides(?)) and further over to a beach where Sach tried to have a fish. Rocks turned out to be a bit tricky to get down with the girls. Cool thatchy beach shelters built along it in various places – very cool! On this gorgeous beach – just looks so cool – good place to have a relax on this beach, Saturday or Sunday, lazing the day away – one shelter even had a couch in it – very cool!
We went on further – 200km of not particularly wonderful road from Broome to tip – final stop coming back was some pearling backpackers or something(?) Very late half hearted lunch – long drive home again to Middle Lagoon. Tenille asked why she had worn her costume if all we were going to do was drive all day? Oh dear - what to do?
Jaz asleep so I walked down to the beach with Tenille – tide out again, Tenille splashed around in the water -
Fire back at camp and pack to go the next day – a long drive for Sacha’s birthday tomorrow!
