First of May I wanted to do something special and decided to go to Hong Kong. I had a friend there studying, so I had a local guide there to take me to different places which normal tourists would probably miss.
First day was 30th of April and the city of Hong Kong was absolutely crowded! There were two international fairs at the same time and all the street were full of people. It was so nice to see that much people in night life because you don't see this much in Guangzhou. Best thing was that it was Girls' Night like all the Thursdays, which meant free entrance and free drinks to female customers whole night long. Free cosmopolitans are the best cosmopolitans. ;)
Next day we took a tourist bus all around the city. Bus was a double decker and the second floor didn't have a roof. It was perfect weater so it was awesome to see all the sightseeings at once and enjoy the beautiful blue sky at the same time. In the afternoon we went to Victoria Peak. We had bought all kind of picnic stuff to bring there with us, and this was the best idea we have got so far! The view was incredible! From the peak we were able to see the whole city. We stayed there the whole afternoon and the early evening so we could see the city lights turning on when came dark. It was amazing! In the evening we went to have late dinner in Indian restaurant in Chun King mansions quarter where we lived.
In the third day we continued pur bus trip around Hong Kong. Now it was Kowloon side's turn. I absolutely recommend everyone to buy this ticket: it was valid for 2 days and included all the tourist buses around Kowloon and Hong Kong and also the train to victoria peak and star ferries across the river. During this day we also went to see the avenue of stars. In the afternoon we took a bus to new territory area. There we jumped to the next bus and drove to peninsula area. I couldn't ever imagine how the sights could change in such a short time! Just over 30 minutes away from the city center the sights were just like from another country, Thailand or something. Turquise see, green mountains and wild animals! Amazing!
In the evening we went to see the light show. It is held every evening at 8pm. You can hear the symhony music and watch the light show in the riverside. The view is best from Kowloon side. After this we went ti eat to Soho area of Hong Kong. We went to a place called Mint & lemon grass and I really recommend this! Owner is a philippino called Ed and you have to work hard to find a man with warmer heart! Food was excellent and every dish was not only a delicious experience but also a piece of art. Try this and fall in love! At night we went to many different night clubs and enjoyed them so much! Fancy placed with beautiful views, don't miss a bar called Azure when you're in the city!
On our last day we took the ferries to Hong Kong side from Kowloon and back. After that I did some shopping and the boys went to see the horse race. I also visited the biggest park in Hong Kong and watched a kung fu show there. In the evening we took a train back to Guangzhou.
Tips for travelling and sleeping:
* To get to Hong Kong from Guangzhou
1) Take a train to Shenzhen (8e) and walk across the border. Take a subway to Hong Kong center (4e)
2) Take a straight train to Hong Kong (20e)
* Hostel area of Chun King Mansions
1) There are tens cheap hostels in this block
2) Probably the best location you can get, but I really don't recommend girls to stay here with out boys. Surrounding are very dangerous!
