When we got to nazca, there was loads of people hassling us for taxi's, none of them seemed to be official but one said he knew the owner and said his name which we knew, we went with him and we didn't have to pay for some reason when we got inside. The hotel was a nice small place and we got a TV in the room where we watched a film that night.
We arranged a flight for the next day, at first we had to be ready for 8 am but then weather conditions meant we had to push it back to 10am we then went to check and found out that the weather still wasn't good enough so had to be pushed to 12, we were getting worried that we wouldn't be able to do it as we only had one day there. At 12 the weather got better and we could go for the flight, we got taken to a tiny airport and had to wait a while for our plane, we got to watch a film in the waiting are about the Incas at Nazca which was interesting.
We made our way to the small 5 passenger plane and took off. We had a pilot and a spotter to point out the lines which was good and meant we actually saw the lines.
When we were up you could see thousands and thousands of lines and designs all over, it was incredible how many there were and how big they were. The first picture we saw was a whale, it was quite small compared to a lot of other lines but was hard to get perspective from the plane, we then saw a huge astronaut on the side of a huge hill which looked like a cartoon. We also saw a huge condor, spider, lizard, hummingbird etc some which were 160m across and really impressive to say how accurate and symmetrical the pictures were. The flight was good value as they made sure everyone saw the pictures and lasted about 45 minutes.
The flight was shaky and when we landed a guy got out and headed straight for the bushes to throw up. We then went back and got some lunch at a cheap place which was really tasty but very spicy. We then sat on the roof terrace of the hotel for a while waiting for our bus, there wasn't as lot else to do in Nazca.
Before we got on the bus we had chicken and chips at a Nandos style place which was very good. On the bus we could recline our seats to nearly vertical and slept quite well with our pillows and blankets, still a hell of a lot nicer than our flight to Peru.
