we managed to do florence and pisa together as there are loads of short trains that go between them and after spending a few days this easter with mum in pisa i knew there was literally nothing there apart from the famous tower! pisa is really small and main bit with the tower is really nice we were planning to go up it but its €15 each and its just too expensive! we went around there a hundreds of shops there and went in the cathedral and did the obvious photo pushing the tower down. we didnt really stay very long.
back in florence we had prebooked to go see michealanglos david in a gallery. which was the best thing we couldve done as when we got there the line was HUGE and we got to sip right past it. the gallery itself is actaully really small and filled with hundreds of madonna and child which everyone seems to love to draw. and lots of old jesus church things which mum would love! the david is actually really impressive and really really big. it is genuinely worht seeing and we managed to get a sneaky photo of it- they have this midget woman guard so that know one can see her so when you get out your camera she just appears from no where and starts shouting. i managed to keep a look out whilst dan took one. once wed spotted her. we then went to see the cathedral but didnt go in becasue id already been in and its pretty rubbish inside sort of like they forgotten about the inside. there cleaning it at the moment so you cana see the before and after whilst there going along and it was filthy!! we then went to pont vecchio a bridge where loads of jewelery shops are all aong the bridge. it was packed and i wanted to get something from here but everything was so expensive! eventually right at the end there was a little shops selling rings for like €20 and dan bought me one even though its no gold and its too big it still from the bridge and hasnt turned my finger green yet! fingers crossed. we then went to the uffizi gallerys and we had pre booked these tickets also but th eline was so big that we still had to queue a bit. inside was loads and loads of painting two really famous ones- the birth of venus by botticelli and the adoration of the magi by leonardo da vinci which is famous because it unfinshed. these were the only two we recognised by sight im sure the have many famous paintings and thats why the gallery is so famous but were not really art people and i dont tink il ever "get" art. glad we went though as it is so famous. after this i really wanted a cola slush and we searched high and low but there was none to be found!
