Arrived Paris yesterday afternoon and it was raining. Queued in a long line to get a cab then the driver could not speak English. Finally got to address of our hotel only to find a SOLD sign on the door and then we panicked as the driver wanted his money so he could go. Saw a nice new hotel beside us and went in and told them we were looking for Hotel Tronchet. We explored Rome on our own and were sorry we did as it was o hot and crowded and didn't get to see all we wanted to. Lots of sights and history to take in but enjoyed it. Have since done Florence,Pizza,Monaco,Monte Carlo, Marseilles and Cassis today. The Italian/French coastline is magnificent.
