We really didn't want to leave Cozy Cottage as it had been just that, very comfortable and full of exciting reading material! A tour of Whidbey Island was on today's agenda but us early birds were too early to catch the worm as Coupeville (our first stop) didn't open until 10am. Today started off with some kind of incident across the road where someone was carted off in an ambulance! On a lighter note, we picked up our car and headed south to Hat'n'Boots and paid out respects to Jimi Hendrix before heading north to Whidbey Island. So the hunt for the Fremont Troll was on! We set out after a much better night's sleep for a bit of a trek. First stop was Archie Mcphee's, a toy shop that sells really silly stuff like squirrel underpants! Who would buy those? Really? The troll sits under the Aurora Bridge crushing a Beetle Car in his hand, not sure why he's here but if somebody could google it and let us know... 3 flights, thousands of miles, too many hours, a train, a bus, a few grumpy US Immigration officer, two nearly missed flights and a husband escorted away (luckily he came back) and we have settled into Seattle. UK time is 0444 so trying to get to sleep, our body clocks are telling us to get up :( So being told check in was closed for our connecting flight at Heathrow was just the start to a very long day. We did get on the flight - phew! US immigration officers...

So we brought the weather with us! Got up to rain, rain and more rain! A wet walk to Pike Place Market found us queuing to get into the first ever Starbucks, drooling at all the different varieties of fruit and veg and taking photos of used gum stuck on a wall at the Gum Wall. Stumbling upon A Bite of Seattle we found bands playing, freebies galore and little market stalls. An enjoyable day just taking in the Seattle sights and sounds.
