We now have three weeks left and still not halfway along Route 66. we've had a long day today not due to mileage but due to many things to stop and see and when you do stop people want to tell stories and there's just no escape route! People are so much friendlier and we travel further west.
Driving through Joplin today was a very spine tingling experience. Driving along with shops and buildings on either side then NOTHING - complete devastation from the May tornado. It really did send shivers, seeing the pictures on the TV just does not show the true picture but even here in the wiped out tornado alley, people were happy and upbeat.
We truly hope that their lives are returned to some kind of normality soon.
We've passed from Missouri into Kansas (for 13.2 miles) and are now in Oklahoma.
We've also seen a couple of Italians today (we saw them over a week ago whilst in Illinois) who are cycling Route 66 but one of them has paralyser legs so is hand cycling whilst the other pulls his wheelchair along - they have one month so must be cycling at least 80 miles a day - we think they may be doing it for charity but due to language barriers we're not sure - good luck to them.
Well, another day over, more from the Graffham 3 tomorrow xx
