Well today we made it into Missouri AND we got to our hotel without assistance from the local community!
Firstly we just had to see the famous Catsup Bottle (we call it ketchup) then we headed to the Old Chain of Rocks bridge on Route 66 where we walked into Missouri across the old bridge. The Mississippi is one and half miles wide at its widest and this bridge is a mile long!
Heading into St Louis, the plan was to travel to the top of the Gateway Arch so we queued (everywhere in the good old US of A has security screening) only to find that the next available tour was two hours later which meant either hanging around the ticket booth after another half hour queue to buy the ticket or going back outside to then queue again to come back in through security. We took a raincheck and glad we did as the queue outside had increased ten fold and a guy told us the trip to the top wasn't too pleasant anyway.
A quick paddle in the very dirty Mississippi just had to be done before The Old Spaghetti Factory beckoned us for lunch.
A good decision was then made to have an early finish today to enjoy he pool at the hotel which we most certainly did.
This is the best hotel yet - free wine!
Nashville tomorrow and we're staying for two days - luxury!
