Graeme round the world
Day 59 Monday 22nd May, up at 6.15 foir early ferry ride to Fraser Island for the start of our ranger guided 4WD tour of the 123km x 20km Island, staying at Winderness lodge. Fraser is a \n island completely made of sand with the largest fresh waters reserves in the world, soemthing like 10 x Sydney harbours. They have 'perched' lakes on the island, basiclaly fresh water lakes perched on the sand. Swam in a beautiful light green couloured lake, but pretty cold. Then samw in Lake McKenzie which was crystal clear and had same PH valueas your skin so very good to exfoliate in the water with the sand and then the water leaves your skin silky smooth.. Our 4x4 bus driver was Robert and ex tank driver and his skills certainly came in handy as the roads are the roughest I have ever travelled on and loads of people got car sick!!! There are wild dingos on the island plus you couldn't swim in the sea as there are strong rip currents that will carry you out to sea and then the sharks will get you. We thought they may have been joking but they weren't. Excellent food and accomodation only spolied by a snorring Icelander in our dorm :o(
