Sunshine and no rain this morning so after breakfast in our room headed out for another wander around this lovely city. Was even better with the sun shining - the buildings are so impressive. Managed to find one of Ottawa's popular attractions, the Byward Markets. Great atmosphere with vendors selling everything from fresh produce to all sorts of arts and crafts - have never seen so many varieties of pumpkins and "ice cherries" !?!.... look like a small garlic an...

Awoke to our first overcast, cool and rainy day so decided to continue on along Lake Ontario toward Kingston. Stopped at little town of Colborne for some breakfast and after chatting with our waitress about taking the scenic route instead of the freeway, she gave us a suggestion for a detour - past Elton John's house!! For real - and what a magnificent mansion! As a result we ended up detouring a little further, not totally intentionally, but the lakeside scenery...

Slept in this morning with poor Raym feeling worse so after buffet breakfast it was time to get directions to a medical centre. Was about half hour away heading towards Buffalo - the whole long drawn out episode took almost three hours! Wasn't helped by major roadwork and me having difficulty getting the GPS to provide Canadian directions. Was never so glad to hear that annoying woman's voice! Always knew medical expenses were high in the US - $240 to see a docto...

Very early start this morning and quick breakfast in time to get cab the short distance to Union station for our 0820 Amtrak train departure for Niagara Falls. Very pleasant and relaxing couple of hour trip to the Canadian/US border where many passengers disembarked - we continued the short distance to the US side and had to wait over an hour for customs officials to scrutinize all the passengers. Once we were allowed to disembark, caught a cab the 10 minute jour...

Bit of a sleep in this morning and a later breakfast at the buffet included with our room - pleasant change. Took about 10 minutes to walk to Dundas Square in the hub of the city where we started hop-on-hop-off sightseeing bus tour. Was perfect sitting on the top deck considering beautifully sunny day, about 25 degrees.
