Woke to rain still coming down but so excited to see our location in the daylight .....even more spectacular, despite the weather. Took our time with brekkie and relaxing while fortunately the inclement weather abated. Strolled around our immediate area then decided to catch a shuttle back into town (Thomson Bay Settlement). Needless to say wasn't long before we spotted our first of an endless number of Quokkas! Once we had checked things out in sunshine chose to do a complete round island bus tour .......only took and hour and for $20 each was money well spent to actually get to see the entire island. It is much larger than originally thought, being 11km in length and 4.5km at its widest point and is dotted with beautiful bays, beaches, 12 lakes and spectacular views. Just beautiful! So many spots that would be superb for snorkelling with a few ship wrecks as well. An abundance of bird life! Once back in Settlement had a coffee at Dome then took a walk along the beach past the Rottnest Hotel along to Army jetty and Kingstown Barracks .......amazed at the amount of accommodation available in the various locations - summer holidays must see the island bursting at the seams!
Back in town, replenished supplies then caught the next shuttle back in time for some lunch. After a rest and freshen up caught a shuttle back in time to organise some bike hire before closing time. Rode around town as much as possible, through the Golf Course and had a beer overlooking picturesque Pinkys Beach. Continued on past our place, along Geordie Bay to Parakeet Bay before returning as sun starting to lower. Enjoyed a drink and nibbles on our balcony before cooking our own dinner.
