Up for a wander around the little seaside backwater of Cervantes - certainly not a great deal to see. Grabbed some fruit and yoghurt at the general store for brekkie and were on the road heading back south before 9.30am - a big driving day ahead.
Initially retraced our steps from yesterday before veering inland along Gin Gin Brook Road to Gin Gin and the Brand Highway. Scenery became more of a farming belt - sheep, cattle then dotted with horse studs as we approached the Swan Valley area. Now on the Great Northern Highway, stopped for a quick coffee at Bullsbrook, then detoured for Raym to check out The Vines Country Club and Resort. Quite impressive. Cruised past Midland and a vast array of wineries and other ventures along the Roe Highway (Cheese factory, Nougat Shop, Chocolates...) then veered onto Tonkin Highway before reaching Armadale. We were now heading back to the coast, with Rockingham in our sights. Interesting seaside spot, a continuation of the Bay area from Fremantle so large scale industry and wharf activity prevalent. Dodged the wind for a bite of lunch then continued south through the next bay to Mandurah. Such a lovely coastal holiday town, reminiscent of many we have visited. Quite picturesque. Tried to stay on the Old Coast Road as much as possible as we covered the last 100kms to Bunbury. Great roads but proud of ourselves as just basic road maps and utilising the map part of the GPS ....gave up on the Navigation! Easy enough to follow.
Bunbury certainly a larger town than expected and looks quite impressive. Checked out the main town area and found our motel easily. Terrific hotel only 200m away so headed there for dinner and to watch the Rabbitohs v Roosters game. Most enjoyable with great result !

Dad You've done lots. We had Science teachers (Packetts) with us when we saw the stromatolites - fascinating. They could explain stuff. Cheese, nougat & chocs - sounds like our recent Tassie experience. Enjoy the rest of the trip
