Glenn's Travels
So, it's been a while since I let you all what's been happening, but I've been incredibly busy and done about a million things, so you really will have to forgive me. The tour with Imaginative Traveller officially started on Thursday night in Bangkok. Basically we went out for a meal and a few drinks and started to get to know each other. I'm realy lucky as everyone is great and really friendly, which makes things a million times easier. Early Friday morning we were up bright and early and to the Bridge on the River Kwai (you might have seen the film), the war cemetry and museum. It was a strange experience, as a lot of horrible stuff went on when the railway was being built, but it was great to see and I'm glad I went. After that we headed south to catch an overnight to a port called Surat Thong. Very long journey, hot, noisy, very little chance of sleep, but I got through it. The day after made it all worth it. From Surat Thong, we got a 3 hour ferry across to Koh Phag Ngan, an amazing island in the Gulf of Thailand. After trekking through the jungle in a pick-up truck thingy, we arrived at our resort. As cliche as it might sound, this place is truely paradise. I haven't been able to upload pictures yet, but when I do, you'll see that this is the most beautiful beach. It's in a bay, and so the water is completely calm, and hot, and excellent. So I dida bit of sun bathing on Saturday, and not much else. Yesterday, however, I was very busy. I was elephant trekking in the morning, which was awesome, and then fishing in the afternoon. I actually caught a few fish, even though they were tiny, it was still pretty cool. And today I went scuba diving, which was amazing. Two dives and training for about 50 quid. The water was warm, crystal clear, and the fish and coral was stunning. So cool. Tomorrow I'll hopefully be doing some sea kayaking and snorkelling, and tonight we are all having a BBQ on the beach. I would actually kill for a steak right now, so I'm definately looking forward to that. Sorry to keep everything so brief, but this is costing me a fortune and I've got a party to go to. Hope you're all having a great time wherever you are, and I'll be in touch soon.
