Glenn's Travels
Well, after a week of being in Thailand, I've now crossed in the border into Malaysia. I have to say that I could easily have spent another week or two in Koh Pha Ngan, but it wasn't to be. The diving there on Monday was spectacular, we had two 45 minute dives off the coast of Koh Tao - a whole lot of fun. Oh, and by the way, I found Nemo. Story over. Anyway, after us having a dramatic sea rescue over shark infested waters (the engines on our speed boat gave up and we needed a tow, but still very exciting), a relaxing night was had at a beach BBQ, with me having the hughest steak ever. Was delicious. Following this was the customary night of partying at the Jungle Bar, and a night spent on the beach, waiting for the sunrise, sleeping on a hammock between two trees. Idyllic. It was very cool, and I only got a couple of bites. So all of that action meant that I was completely wrecked and not up to much on Tuesday. So I laid by the beach and worked on my tan (I'm still unbelievably white, it's quite worrying). In saying that, I still managed to attend a superhero party that night. People playing with poi, and jumping through hoops of fire (one girl got quite burnt, don't try this at home kids). And then yesterday was spent just travelling. Up at 7am to get the pick-up truck, a ferry and a 6 hour coach ride to the southern Thailand town of Satun. Not a lot happening there to be honest, we were just in, eat, shower, sleep and out again for 8am this morning. So here I am now in Hotel Mingood on the West Malaysian island of Penang (connected to the mainland by the longest bridge in SE Asia). Lots of different influences here - Chinese, Indian, British, lots more. I'm pretty tired so I'll just go out for a meal with the group tonight, and check out the town tomorrow. I'll let you know how that goes. I'm going to try to put a few photos up now, but it takes forever, and my time is limited, so sorry if I don't get far.
