We got up early yesterday morning to travel a couple of hours to our next destination Hue. Breakfast was amusing in the hotel as Graeme went down in his new silk robe. When we arrived at Hue we checked into our room which was really nice, and then went across the street to a recommended café for lunch. It looked nice at first, until Martins sandwich came out. He'd taken several bites when he realised the bacon was raw inside it. He asked for it to be 'cooked better' and the waitress went away and came back with butter, then he managed to send it back for the meat to be cooked and they returned it with the same batch (as there was bite marks) but with cooked meat. We had to send it back again to get it done properly. After this I think all our appetites went (oh maybe except for Graeme's who ate all his beef sandwich - this was supposed to be a beef burger - and 4 fries hehe).
We then went on another motorbike tour. We all rode on the back of a guy's motorbike and went out for a few hours for a tour of the city. We saw the Citadel, we saw a local woman making incense sticks, we saw a local woman making the Vietnamese hats, a Colloseum (unfortunately not as good as the Cov one!) and the rice fields. We also ended up eating and drinking in a local woman's house as it started raining and her café was outside. Very nice of her. She had pet chickens kept walking around inside her house. The drive back was interesting in the rain. All the motorbike drivers pulled out ponchos for us but we still got soaked. Graeme told me afterwards that his driver wore glasses, but took them off for the drive in the rain, which was worrying. Graeme also took a video of me riding on the way back in the rain.
When we got back we freshened up before going out for an amazing meal, set menu and got loads of Vietnamese food, and some drinks. We then headed to a bar for 1 more drink, which turned into 2 then 3 etc, we continued drinking and ended up having a bit of a night out. Lots of dancing and limbo-ing and craziness. We got into bed about 1 just in time to hear the monsoon rain come.
Today has been a bit quieter, we had breakfast and then headed out quite late to the supermarket to get stuff for our train journey today. We had a quick stop in KFC though which was so much better than UK, and then caught the bus to the station. We are now on the train in the afternoon and we'll be travelling overnight and it should arrive about 4am…we'll see. A long day, but we have supplies including a pizza, wine, beer, cards etc.
