This morning we woke and went to a nice little café outside our resort for some breakfast. We then headed back to get on a tuk tuk to the bus station on our luxury Mini bus that we'd booked to take us to Luang Prebang. We shared the tuk tuk with 2 others, thinking we we're going to have a whole mini bus between 4 of us. It turned out more people were at the station and it was completely full, and no aircon - hardly luxury we paid an extra 10,000 for this. Oh well, it was actually not too bad, plus it was supposed to get us there quicker.
We travelled along until we came to a block in the road, all transport had stopped. We were told there was a landslide round the corner. We got out and stretched our legs and went to have a look. A digger was trying to move all the mud from the road and a big lorry had also tried to get round but had got stuck so there was a massive jam both directions. We stood there a while taking a picture and admiring the scenery, and then bumped into Mr T (the guy running the gap tour that was behind us who we kept running into). He was not happy, they'd been waiting for 45 minutes already. Sometimes you can be waiting days for it to clear apparently.
It started to rain so we went back to our van, and just as we were preparing to be waiting ages the traffic started to move again luckily. We continued driving along. During the journey we passed many landslide that had been cleared up already, and passed about 4 which we had to either slow down for or wait a few minutes for them to finish clearing up. Other than that a beautiful journey with the scenery.
We finally made it to Luang Prebang. We shared a tuk tuk with a Belgium guy into the centre and found a lovely guest house. We then went out for a wander and checked our booking for an elephant tour had been sorted at Tiger Tiger for tomorrow. We then went for a meal in a restaurant on the riverside and walked around the town a bit - including the markets ;)
