We woke on the 1st and checked out of Barefoot resort. Graeme then got to do a free snorkel trip for winning a game last night while I relaxed on the beach. He got to see lots, and he saw jellyfish really pretty ones getting a bit stung in the process.
Afterwards we relaxed on a hammock before having lunch. We then sadly had to board the ferry saying good bye to the islands. It was a nice ferry ride back to mainland. We managed to get a free shuttle then back to our hostel in Nadi. We arrived back saying thankyou to Dave (the guy at the hostel) for booking our trip for us. We went out for a yummy curry before collapsing in bed.
The following morning we had a mainland tour booked for the day. We had a private tour as there was no one else. Our driver Sam took us first to some Mud Pools. Our guide there first showed us around the park and told us what we'd be doing. We changed into our swimmers then another guy led us to the first pool - the mud bath. Completely natural. first you start climbing down into the pool which just looks like muddy water, then all of a sudden you feel the mud, about a metre under water its like thick mud and grass. The weirdest sensation ever. We relaxed (or tried to) in there for a bit rubbing our faces with mud. The tour guy filled a bucket with more mud then we got out and we covered our whole bodies in mud. We then went round some little market stores whilst letting the mud dry which was hilarious.
When the mud had dried we got back in the mud pool to wash the majority off before getting into another pool, a hot spring to relax in and soak. We then decided to treat ourselves to a Fijian massage. Very relaxing.
After the mud baths we were driven to the Coral Coast of Fiji and had some lunch in a restaurant by the sea. We were then driven to a Fijian village where we were greeted and shown around by some women. They then showed us some pottery and shared kava with us. They did a bit of a dance, grabbing us onto the floor too, and then we had a chance to go round their little stalls looking at stuff they were selling, we bought a turtle bowl to support there village. We were then driven back to the hostel for dinner.
The next morning (3rd) we decided to pay for an extra day in our room so that we could relax before our flight. We had a potter round town and did some shopping. We enjoyed a delicious meal in a cheap curry house. Then we got a shuttle to the airport for our flight to USA. Unfortunately our flight was delayed by 2 hours now leaving at mid night, so it was a very long night, but we did get a free food voucher.
The flight was pretty funny as Graeme asked for an apple squash. He was then given a strong Scotch and apple juice…?? At least it helped us sleep!
