Leaving the Camargue it was a pleasant journey at first driving through the marshes with yet more flamingos. Then I zoomed on a motorway which cost €25 for a 100 miles. I don't mind paying but it is such a nuisance to have to keep clambering out of the van, walking round the van to either collect the ticket or pay. Then clambering back in after apologising to the people waiting behind. After the Spanish border I had to turn off about 200 metres past the ticket machine and had to pay 85 cents for the pleasure of clambering in and out again.
I was still feeling the heat of the Camargue so decided to drive on into the mountains of the Spanish Pyrenees to gain some altitude.
Thanks to the Acsi book I am now in a delightful campsite- Mori Sellar the nearest town is Ripoll.
The only problem is that it is a farm and they have cattle, sheep, geese, chickens, a horse and hopping around the van are some cheeky pet rabbits that enjoy winding Sacha up. It doesn't take much.
Yesterday morning I took Sacha for a pee in a corner of the site when she suddenly ran behind a chalet. Out popped the biggest of all rabbits with Sacha on her tail. I tried to stop Sacha with a rugby tackle as they both raced past me but missed and ended up sprawled on the grass!
I was much relieved when the rabbit appeared in the middle of the campsite although there was no sign of Sacha. She eventually appeared.
The temperature is just pleasant. The first day I did two loads of washing and cleaned the van. It is still difficult for me with the torn muscle in my shoulder but by doing things slowly it is ok.
I palled up with a charming Dutch couple with a super Hymer van. We shared some wine and had a meal together in the restaurant. I had their lamb which was so tender and tasty.
After Hans and Hellen left I met up with Andrew and another Helen who are both BA pilots. After another heavy meal (lamb again as it was so good ) with wine a a special herbal alcoholic drink we were invited to join the family in the kitchen. It was for the very important reason of choosing wine for the restaurant. There were eight varieties and the wanted to know how to describe them. It was all very animated with all the opinions. Only too happy to help but what a headache this morning.
I was invited to go with the family and others for a bike ride into the mountains for breakfast but I declined as it was 1hr 30mins each way. Instead I cycled with Sacha to a beautiful gorge and waterfall.
The campsite has become busy now with unruly children so maybe it is time to move on. Apparently it is a public holiday weekend.
