Friday 15/8: off to St Andrews today with Helen. Travelled through lovely countryside along the coast to St. Andrews and arrived in this historic town to be greeted with the lucky park (Olivia you know what I mean). Helen guided us through the streets pointing out places of interest until we came to the Golf Course (the royal and ancient). We followed the tourist path to the Swilcan (named after the famous Swilcan bridge) Tea room where we had a lovely lunch and watch the golfers approach the 18th. Headed off to St Salvators church on the grounds of the university unfortunately there was a wedding just concluding so we could not go in but we were treated to a piper who was piping the bride and groom out. Wandered around the uni and abbey and past the cafe that wills and Kate met for coffee. What a beautiful town, full of old world atmosphere. Helen then took us to anstruther and pitenweem both fishing villages with quaint fisherman cottages. Finished the day with a lovely meal at a local Indian restaurant with Bill and Helen where Brian was bitten by a cobra (local Indian brew). Also was able to catch up with Kate and Craig later in the evening ( provided great help with booking our rail tickets to Worcester ) great day again. Off to Edinburgh tomorrow.
