We arrive in Naples Railway Station at 2.20pm......we need to get on the last ferry to Ischia Island which leaves at 3.10pm.......we get to the bus station but no sign of the bus we need...damn, we're going to have to take a taxi to the port if we're going to make it. Our last night in Florence and we decided to take an evening walk around the old town. It was much better by night, most of the tourists had left and all the major buildings were lit up, highlighting the shadows and contours of these magnificent buildings. Being the cultural Ambassadors from Wales, we opt for kebab & chips to finish the evening. Up early, breakfast, shower and the hassle of packing up again....then check to see if we've left anyrthing behind...

We arrived into Florence and realised we hadnt checked how to get to the hotel from the Railway Station. As Milan had bamboozled us geographically, we're expecting the same thing in Florence. So we jump into a cab and the driver makes a big fuss about the address. Thirty seconds later we're at the hotel...it would probably have taken us fifteen seconds to walk!!! Doh!! The driver, sensing that we probably wouldnt be too happy parting with five euros for our journ...

We've woken up at about 7.30am..it's pretty quiet in the Milan suburbs, it looks like it's going to be another nice day. We head down stairs for breakfast....again its a bit odd it looks like Family Choice biscuits with some Jammy Dodgers and a piece of Treacle Tart? Bizarre.......I opt for the coffee and the waitress gives up on us, the French birds who were complaining about their McVities Digestive Biscuit Breakfast manage to get an alternative of cheese sprea...

...After the Pasta at the cafe, we headed back to the Hotel and had a chat with Angelo the owner. Once again the dreaded European Union came up in conversation. I had wondered why prices had gone up a lot since my last visit to Italy a couple of years back.......Angelo told us that taxes had gone up......but he saved the best till last.......income tax is now around 80%........so that's 80 % to the governemnt and 20% for Angelo.
