Up and at them this morning around 8am... A quick shower etc and we're good for another Continental Breakfast.......it's boiled eggs, Edam etc..... We dont have much to do today..we need to get to the Central Station to head to gay Paree....Our feet are not good after all the walking over the last 2 days, so we opt to cheat the Amsterdam taxayers by jumping on a tram. We think you have to buy oyster type cards to use them.....but no one checks if there's any Brit...

Up bright and early it's a continental breakfast of salami, edan knobbly knees, rusks, OJ & coffee. As we're staying in the Museum Quarter, it would be rude not to visit the Van Gogh Museum - free to locals but 15 Euros to the great unwashed....that'll be me then. Grant got in free after I lied about his age....tut tut. That said it was a very interesting museum with a large collection and the history of how Van Gogh attained his style. Looks like it was hard...

We arrive in Amsterdam Central around 6pm....we're greeted by noise and traffic chaos. The Central Square is blighted by construction of a new subway connection. The locals aren't happy about it either...it's been going on for a while apparently. Our internet guide tells us to hop on tram number 5.....we see one and run across the road..Grant jumps on but the doors close on me..and off Grant goes.....oops, Mrs. Gibbs wouldn't be too happy if she were here. Luckil...

We get up at 4.30am....get sorted out, shower etc...then lug the bags down the steep stairs of the hotel....then a quick walk to Victoria Railway Station....we manage to get a London Black Cab....and head off to Liverpool Street Station...very quickly. The Cabbie floors it ..cursing everyone and swearing merrily away...he jumps about 8 red lights and gets us there within 7 minutes..impressed, he gets left a tip. It's a Maccy Dee Breakfast Wrap for Grant......an...

Off to auspicious start....as most of our trip will be on the railways, we head to our local train station for the 20 minute ride to Cardiff....only to find the trains have been cancelled. so we board the bus provided and head to Cardiff...in a very roundabout manner...it ends 2 hours later due to roads being closed at Caerphilly...so we leave Wales as we know it only too well......in a state of chaos.
