If someone said the above to you, you may be offended, but we were merely being told that we had mistakenly got on to "The ladies Carriage". So that was cleared up and we have spent the day jumping on and off Kuala Lumpur's excellent public transport system. they've got overland light railways, monorails and metro's. It wasnt the most exciting day as we have had to hang around as our 12 hour railway ride to Penang doesnt leave until 9.30pm. We went to places of interest and shopping malls trying to kill time. The only excitement was watching a shoplifter get a good beating off 3 security guards. No social worker police here. We even spotted the old boy who had been involved in yesterday's scuffle in the Central Market, looks like he got off lightly.
We're a bit jaded now and think the next 24 hours of railway rides will take it's toll. We're just hoping it's not going to be a repeat of the Indian Railway trip. Time will tell.
We rounded off the day at Chinatown as I wanted to get some knick knackery for the folks back at home. The shopping trip ended on a sweet & sour note as we out bargained a Chinese trader, in the end he backed out of the deal and refused to sell Grant the T shirt he wanted after finally agreeing the price. I didnt think it was meant to work like this. In the end he had a good scream..as he had lost face. End result was he didnt get the money and Grant didnt get the t shirt. looks like ebay will end up getting the money.
Now sitting in the excellent KL Central train station killing yet more time. One of the smells I forgot to mention yesterday...that will make anyone who's lived in Asia groan....was the fruit despised by hotels and airlines alike. The delicious Durian Fruit, and it's right in season at the moment, so all the stalls are filled with them and as usual they absolutely stink. Seems only right then that we're heading to Penang, which is one of Malaysia's main producers of this pungent plant.

[email protected] Good one, ahh the reminiscent smell of the durian!!! It has that linger longer aroma. Good to hear you are now travelling on decent transport. I hope to get to KL, as I have only heard great things about Malaysia.
Big Steve uuugghhh Durian.... Maybe airlines in the region refuse to carry that "fruit", due to the high costs involved with removing the stink of the stuff afterwards..
Jaynelove Remember the countryside in Penang ! All layered terraces tropical plants and tree after tree hanging in Durian. I was only thinking about the smell of them yesterday. I don’t know how anyone could eat it !!! yuk! I dare Grant to eat some . Ha ! Ha!. Just pretend your on I’M A Celebrity trial !!!!!
