Hello everyone. Well we are now in Hogsback after spending one night in P.E as a stop over for the Baz Bus. We stayed in Lungile backpackers where we had stayed before over nearly 3 weeks ago. And get this, the manager remembered our names from before. Hogsback is 2 hours North from East London in the mountains. Its an amazing place with lots of forests and mountains. Hogsback is so called due to its 3 mountains which all have stumps on them hence it looks like a hogs back. The weather was very misty and rained most of the time but it was nice. The first day we went for a huge walk. This time we had 5 dogs follow us which was great but had trouble keeping them all in line. There were a lot of Samango Monkeys which are very rare and the dogs kept barking at them up the trees. The monkeys were making noises back to them to tell them to go away. The walk consists of walking through rainforest and mountains. There were a lot of waterfalls of which one we rock scrambled up. This was proper climbing and was great fun to do. The waterfalls were amazing and one of our dogs decided to swim in a pool. She was there for about 5 minutes while we watched her going up and down. It was very funny. It was very muddy and our trousers and trainers got covered but after a wash back at the hostel they were ok. Our purpose built trainers got well tested today. Our feet stayed lovely warm and dry :o)We had a log fire in our room, which was lovely. We snuggled up in front of it. The next day we explored the village a bit more and did a labyrinth walk and the sun came out. It was very hot and we also got to see the Hogs back mountains finally. We do have some amazing photos to follow soon. 13th Nov '06 - We are now in Durban for one day. Just a stop over. We are staying at Smiths Cottage for two nights and its really home away from home. Its like being at your grandparents house. We leave tomorrow morning for Jo'berg and will be flying out on Wednesday morning to China. We will be updating the site again once we land there and settle. South Africa has been an amazing place and we will defiantly miss it. Hope to speak to you all soon.
Lots of love Gemma and Darren xxx
