Bloody hell I spent an hour doing my blog entry catch up last night Pamplona to find out his morning that it had not saved. I am going to cheat and say what a wonderful ferry ride we had to the Netherlands followed by a not so good train journey to Amsterdam, a great 3 days except the stairs, or should I say ladders to our apartment, big drive day through the Netherlands, Belgium and France to make it to Spain.
Yesterday we had a great day in Pamplona with our hotel inside the old city walls. We walked the route they run the bulls very July and worked out the shortest way to run in front of the bulls and then run up some stairs (3 metres). Walked the route into the old city that those walking the El Camino walk, and saw and chatted to many doing the walk. Pamplona is about day 4 of the walk with a further 780 Kms to go to the finish, Santiago de Compostella. The El Camino was one of the reasons we wanted to see the northern parts is Spain. We will be in Santiago in about a week and will be following some of the pilgrim trail on our way back across Northern Spain. For those who have not seen the movie The Way starring Martin Sheen and written and directed by his son Emmellio Estevez, it is all about the El Camino and the various reasons why people walk it now, and have done so for a thousand years.
The scenery through the Pyrenees and then across La Mancha to Toledo is stunning. In many places it could be Central NSW, except for the odd castle on a hill.
Toledo is everything that was expected with with he walled city sitting on the hill top in the Alcazar and Cathedral dominating the skyline. I have attached a photo of the view from our hotel room looking over the old town to give you some idea of the spectacle.
Spain has been outstanding so far and represents much better value for our Aussie dollar than England or the Netherlands. And the food, beer and wine are wonderful. And a change of government has helped the exchange rate.
Tomorrow 500 Kms to Seville and looking forward to seeing more of this wonderful place. I promise to post some more photos soon.

Elaine Marr Sounds like you are having a wonderful time. Our Irish exchange, Roisin, was doing the 800km walk while we were in their house in July - and finished it the trip! Only three more weeks of our trip to go. We are enjoying "living" your trip through your emails. Keep safe. Lv E & Al

Roslyn Seville is my favourite place in Spain- make sure you have a look at the Placa Espana. What a shame you lost an hour of blog work. Spain is the best- keep enjoying. Might watch The Way again tonight- love that movie.
Mum and Bruce Mum says she wishes she was travelling with you. She always enjoys seeing the countryside where ever she travels. Tonights news has photos of a bush fire that has jumped the F3 north of Wyong.
