Today was a day of traditions. Historical in the morning with a visit to Windsor Castle, and some Formula One tradition in the afternoon? Confused?
Windsor Castle is a huge place with all of the state rooms having the pomp and ceremony you would expect. As one of the showcases of the British traditions it certainly delivers. Started by William the conqueror and then built on and occupied by all of the royalty since, it's history is amazing. You wander through St George's chapel over the interned remains of everyone from Charles the 1st and Henry the eighth to the current queens parents and grandparents.
And the afternoon. A new movie Rush directed by Ron Howard about the rivalry between Niki Lauder and James Hunt in the 70's was having its world premier in Leicester Square. Australia's own Chris Hemingworth (the guy who played Thor) is one of the stars. There were F1 stars including MArk Webber and Jensen Button the boss of Ferrari, Bernie Eccelston etc walking the red carpet. And we had front row seats. For once Robyn was interested in something to do with F1 as we were 3 feet away from the Aussie hunk.
Tired and foot sore we wandered back to our hotel after Big day. 2 Coronas in our room later, we found a pub with great Thai curries just around the corner for tea.
Last day in London today and after sorting out the Bain of a travellers life on the road, the washing, we are going to the British museum and then for a wander through Whitchapel, Jack the Rippers stomping ground. Tonight we are off to the theatre to see Warhorse. No complaints about the English weather. Going to be 24 And sunny today.
