We have arrived in Silverton which is 22kms outside Broken Hill. Set up camp at an old picnicking area for the Broken Hill locals in the 50's and 60's called Penrose Park. A little run down now but a great place to camp. There were some animals to keep the kids amused; Sarah Jane the Pony, Peacocks, Ginny was the sheep and Sunshine, Dolly and Rose the Goats!
Silverton is a quaint historical town with a population of 39! Quite a few iconic Australian films were shot here such as A Town Like Alice, Mad Max 2, The Craic and others!
The local pub was fantastic and we ended up staying there for a few hours as we had the place to ourselves and the kids enjoyed dancing on the stage out the back. The owners were very friendly and gave us a good run down on the place. I don't think I have ever had such a full glass of wine served to me at a pub before!
