hello from sydney again!! just a quick update on our route over the past few days...we caught a ferry from circular quays, sydbey harbour to Manly Beach yesterday. its a tiny harbour off one of the islands close to here...we sat and ate ice cream overlooking the water and sydney skyline and talked about our journey to this point! crazy to think we are here in sydney, over looking such iconic buildings still such as the opera house...manly is beautiful and a stark contrast to the inner city buslt of sydney...through the mall is lined with cute little shops and reminders of the surfing nature with billabong and quiksilver!!! at the other end of the strip is the ocean beach and our first encounter of surfer dudes!!! ; ) we paddled on the edge - had to be done! and made our way back to the ferry...definately a nice escape from city life for a day and also got a quick glance at bondi beach - our destination for tomorrow! ; ) today we headed into the Blue Mountains and saw the mythological Three Sisters rock formations...2 hour train journey from here, the rolling mountains with their blue haze is again a stark contrast (and a welcome reminder of beautiful new zealand that we miss so much!) legend has it that there was once 3 sisters who fell in love with 3 brothers...tribal law forbid them to marry so they decided to fight for there loves! to protect them, the 3 sisters were turned to stone with the thought of turning them back to their natural beauty once the war was over. unfortunately the 'clever man' of the tribe was killed and the sisters were never able to be turned back into there original state and stand to this day, towering over the Blue Mountains Jamieson Valley...little bit of history for you! i actually read something today and got quite informed so thought i would pass that on! ; ) they were stunning and was amazing to be walking through the rainforests of australia! came across Echo Falls point that looks out over the valley and also across the Katoomba Falls - awesome cascade waterfalls! Got the big red london bus back to the train station and made the journey back into the city...we met up with vicki west tonight! (one of our friends from home) yey! this is her home now for a few months and is cool to be cathing up again before we leave for the rest of our trip...sure our paths will meet again across oz sometime...; ) think thats all for now, will update again further along the way...going to try from fiji but i know that service out there is in fiji time (about 12 hours behind everyone else! i cant wait to relax...we need a holiday me thinks! ; ) ) so love all round and i really hope things are good with you...lots of love, georgie and skippy ; ) x x x
